Edward Kenneth Hand, M.D., 93, of Vine Grove, Kentucky passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at Kensington Center in Elizabethtown, KY.

Dr. Hand was a member of Vine Grove United Methodist Church. He graduated from the University of Louisville Medical School in 1947. After completing his internship and residency he began his practice in Vine Grove, KY in 1950. The United States Army called in 1954 and he served as a doctor for two years at Brooks Army Hospital in San Antonia, TX. Dr. Hand had delivered close to 2,000 babies and delivered and treated several generations of the same family. He was the last charter member of the Hardin Memorial Hospital staff.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Jane Ferriell Hand; his parents, Edward & Ester Hand; and a grandson, Patrick Christopher Thompson.

Survivors include his daughter, Lynda Hudson and her husband, Mike Hudson of Dixon, KY; his son, Michael Hand of Radcliff, KY; four grandchildren, Lauren Myrick (Michael) of Bowling Green, KY; Tammy Long (Gary) of Ekron, KY; Amy Hite (Robbie) of Jackson, TN; Glenn Hudson (Debra) of Louisville, KY;  five great-grandchildren; and many special family & friends.

At Dr. Hand's request, there will be a private graveside service at the North Hardin Memorial Gardens, Radcliff, KY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hardin Memorial Hospital Foundation or Vine Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund.
