George Milton Childers, Sr.

CW2 (Retired) George Milton Childers, Sr., 77, of Flaherty, KY passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Childers was a member of the Vine Grove Church of God where he held the position of Pastor Counsel, Sunday School Superintendent, and teacher. He was retired from the United States Army having served in the Vietnam war, and he was retired from Civil Service, Fort Knox, KY with twenty two years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. & Cynthia Jones Childers; and three sisters, Betty Allen, Nancy Osborne, Glenda Childers.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary “Mickey” Childers of Flaherty, KY; one son, George M. Childers, Jr. & his wife, Juletta of Big Spring, KY; one daughter, Tamela Twigg & her husband, Richard of Vine Grove, KY; two grandsons, Ethan Twigg & his wife, Carri of Radcliff, KY, Casey Twigg of Vine Grove, KY; two brothers, Joe “Dink” Childers & his wife, Mary of Virginia, Paul Childers of Harlan, KY; three sisters, Lorene Maxwell & of Evansville, IN, Blanche Posey & her husband, Dickie of Harlan, KY, Helen Bumgardner & her husband, Albert of Harlan, KY; and a host of nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday and from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Thursday at the Chism Family Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Childers will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY
