My sincere condolences to CSM Richardson & family. I was trying to locate the CSM when I found out the sad news.
I served for him while stationed in Germany (1983-1986)- Big Red One. He was my platoon/1SGT plus a mentor to me. I arrived to the post as a 19-year-old PVT and heard someone yelling my name. You guessed it! The CSM! He ordered me upstairs to report to his S3 shop.
He thought me that honesty, loyalty and dedication where the most important aspects to being a good soldier. I applied those rules for the rest of my life and ended up a Chief Warrant Officer in the Army Reserves and a CIO in the federal government (almost 30 years in service).
God bless and RIP CSM Richardson!

Just found out about this, CSM was my 1SG when I was a PFC, One of the great NCO that had a last impression on me. I will never forget him. He was firm but fair. I send my prayers and condolences.

Sheila and family I am at a lost for words. I worked with Sergeant Major at the NCO Academy. He was a hard core leader but also a fair one. He was one of the best soldiers I have ever known. He loved his family and God. He had such a sense of humor and always met folk with a smile. He will be missed. I pray God will give you strength to get through this difficult time in your life.

Was so saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. We not only worked together at Fort Knox but were both Texas natives and grew up with the same values of God, Country and Family, and talked about Texas many times. Extending our deepest sympathy and keeping the family in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless!

Sheila and family, We are deeply saddened by your loss. We remember Jeff''s kindness to we Ladys when we were new arrivals to Fort Knox in the late eighties. He was a fine soldier and excellent leader. Our Army and our lives have lessened with his passing. May you find some comfort, some day, in your memories and in each other.

Our prayers go out to his family. Served in 1st ATB at Fort Knox as a Drill Sergeant. CSM Jeff Richardson was the BDE or BN CSM at the time, Also worked with him as a civilian. I remember him trooping the lines with a big stick. He was a hard ass and was very dress right dress. He was a professional soldier through and through. He will be missed. Until then my friend!

When I became a football official, I was shocked at how loud and often Jeff would holler at me. He was a hard yet fair man and he made me think about what I was doing on the football field. I regret not keeping in touch with him through the years and I already miss him. My condolences to everyone in his family. God Bless you Jeff.

I knew Jeffery since Jr. High all the way through high school graduation in 1972. He had a huge personality and lived a life of passion and great enthusiasm. He had a bit of "an edge" to him. Those who spent time with him knew he also had a kind and soft side and a heart of gold. Thank you Jeffery for your service to the USA through the army and all the folks you would positively influence in your lifetime.

CSM Jeff Richardson was One of the best senior Noncommissioned Officers that The Armor force has ever produced. It was my honor to have served under Jeff’s leadership. But Jeff was more than one of the Worlds best War fighters, he was totally invested in family and his community. If you wanted to find Jeff, you had to hunt him down. Friday nights you would find him on a high school football field some where in the state of Kentucky. During the week days he would drive his beloved kids and by night he would put on another Hat, it’s was for the kids again on a ball field somewhere. His Sunday’s was for God and family. Shelia my heart is broken for you. I want to personally thank you for sharing your best friend with all of us for so long. I will see you again Jeffery. Save me a spot on the High Ground at the Fiddlers Green my trusted friend.
