Delsey (Sharretts) Collins

Delsey S. Collins, 86, of Johnstown, PA died Thursday, May 31, 2018, in Elizabethtown, KY.

She was born March 16, 1932, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., to Gereand Florence (Haupt) Sharretts. She spent her early years with her grandparents on their farm in Paxinos, Pa., before she and her parents settled in Sunbury, Pa.  She graduated from Sunbury High School in 1950, and from Bloomsburg State Teachers College in 1954. It was during her senior year of high school that she met Jeremiah J. Collins, who had graduated two years earlier. They married in August 1953,at Langley AFB, where Jerry was in pilot training with the Air Force. Their union lasted nearly 53 years, until Jerry’s death in 2006.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son-in-law, Ted Strange.

Delsey is survived by her sons, James Kevin Collins of Johnstown, PA, Michael Collins of Alabama; her daughter, Jerianne Strange of Elizabethtown KY; three grandchildren, Evan Collins, Ryan Strange and Katie Strange.

At her request, there will be no services.
