Dorothy Dean (Hartsell) Gentry

On Monday, July 2 2018 Dorothy Hartsell Gentry, much beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, world traveler and home maker extraordinaire passed away after a long battle with dementia at age of 90 at Helmwood Healthcare in Elizabethtown, KY. Dorothy was born April 19, 1928 in Newport, Tennessee.  

Dorothy proudly followed her husband around the country and around the world finding adventures and memories from Germany to Okinawa Japan and back.  She lived her life providing for everyone she could when and where needed.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband MSG Ret. John B. Gentry, a great granddaughter Jessica Lynn Henning and grandson James Henning.

Dorothy is survived by her loving children Ann Smyers of Weatherford, TX, Jerry (Pamela) of Palm Desert, CA, John Jr. (Ruth) of Monroe, WI, David (Diane) of Seven Valleys, PA, Bill (Elaine) of Radcliff, KY and Sue of Elizabethtown, KY along with 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and special family friends the Watson family, Jody, Cindy and Haley.      

Visitation will be from 2:00pm until 6:00 pm Sunday and from 9:00 am until 10:00 am Monday at the Chism Family Funeral Home Vine Grove Ky.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Gentry will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, July 9th, 2018 at the Chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY. Burial will follow in the Otter Creek Cemetery.
