Rose Marie (Kidwell) Yates

Rose Marie Yates, 82, of Rineyville passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

Rose Marie was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Edd and Marjorie (Mattingly) Kidwell. She graduated from Rineyville High School in 1954. She married Ronald Yates, her high school sweetheart and soulmate in 1956 and moved to Ronald’s family farm in Rineyville where they raised their family. After her children were grown, Rose Marie began working for G. C. Burkhead Elementary School as the attendance clerk.

Rose Marie was an active member of St. Brigid Catholic Church for over 60 years. She enjoyed activities with her Hardin County homemakers group exhibiting crafts at local fairs, playing bunco with friends and creating ceramics.

She is preceded in death by her parents’ Edd and Marjorie Kidwell.

Rose Marie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joseph “Ronald” Yates; six children, Steve (Rita) Yates of Indiana, Carol (Paul) Underdonk of Radcliff, Cheryl (Greg) Van Meter of East View, Jeff (Laura Ellen) Yates of Rineyville, Kevin (Pam) Yates of Rineyville, and Michelle (David) Jones of Nicholasville; fourteen grandchildren, Phillip Druen, Dana (Shawn) Bryant, Ashley (Matt) Colasanti, Kelly Druen, Kimberly (Kyle) Littrell, Jared (Samantha) Yates, Ethan Yates, Aaron Yates, Olivia Jones, Jordan Van Meter, Holly Yates, Jillian Jones, Tessa Jones, and Seth Yates; nine great-grandchildren, Conner and Taylor Gaskins, Jackson Druen, Cameron Bryant, Hayden Singer, Madison, Emerson, Maggie Colasanti, Kylie Bryant & two more on the way; her loving caregiver Janey Jenkins; and a host of family & friends.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday and from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM Friday at the Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Yates will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 22, 2018 at St. Brigid Catholic Church, Vine Grove, KY with Rev. Daniel Lincoln officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Brigid Cemetery.

Rose Marie enjoyed numerous vacations with friends and family, is best known for always remembering everyone’s birthday’s and Christmas present, and teaching every person who knows her about unconditional love and faith.
