Ruby (Hynes) Jones

Ruby Hynes Jones, 101, crossed over the Jordan River Friday, January 11, 2019.  She was born in 1917 Ruby Leona Hynes, was a proud resident of Vine Grove for 85 years and graduated Vine Grove High School.  

She was a founding member of Valley View Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for many, many years.  She was a member of the Rose Marlow Circle at Valley View, she was a member of the Vine Grove Women’s Club, The Civic Organization and was active in many of the affairs of Vine Grove.  She retired after 30 years at the Vine Grove Post Office where she got to know most everyone in town.  Recently her favorite saying was, “I have been drawing a check from the Post Office for not working longer than I drew a check for working!”  One of her great joys of life was helping other people in need.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Jones; and her parents Edwin Smith & Attie Crawford Hynes.  

She is survived by her loving children, Wes Jones (Lynn), Elaine Wells and Susan Isaacs (Sam), two grandsons Stuart Jones (Amy) and Barton Jones (LeeAnna).  She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.  

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY and from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM Tuesday at Valley View Baptist Church, Vine Grove, KY.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Valley View Baptist Church, Vine Grove, KY with Brother Mark Powell and Brother Ron Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
