Aldridge Eugene Newby, Sr. 99, of Ekron, KY passed away on Friday July 3, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long and fulfilling life.
Mr. Newby was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on April 3, 1927. He was the 3rd of 4 sons to Alfred and Helen (Beck) Newby.
Mr. Newby was a veteran of World War II, Korean War, and Peacetime Vietnam Era. He retired from the United States Army after 23 years of service. He met and married his wife of 58 years, Simonette Reid while stationed in Virginia. Beyond his military accomplishments he was also employed with Olin Chemicals Corporation and retired after 25 years.
Mr. Newby was a selfless man whose life reflected service, devotion, and quiet strength. He found his greatest joy in spending time and traveling with his family, and serving as a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. He was a source of wisdom and inspiration to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Simonette Newby (Reid), three children; Simone Freeman, Aldridge Newby, Jr. and Harry Lee Newby and 5 grandchildren; Curtis Taylor, Adrienne Yorns, Kyrie Bowden, Kyran Bowden, and Erica Robinson.
He leaves to mourn his passing, seven children; Curtis Newby, Sheila Newby (Charles), Sharon Dixon (Stevie), Sandra Singleton, Michael Newby (Dianna), Eric Newby (Tammy), Tyrone Newby (Jennifer). A host of grandchildren(34), great grandchildren(55), and great-great grandchildren(15) and extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Friday, July 10, 2026 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Radcliff, KY.
Funeral Services for Mr. Newby will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, July 10, 2026 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Radcliff, KY. Burial will follow at North Hardin Memorial Gardens, Radcliff, KY with military honors.
