Allan M. H. Gowins, Sr. (Leroy) was born on January 26th, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York. Allan went to be with our Lord March 7th, 2025.
Allan went to Automotive High School in Brooklyn, NY. He enlisted in the Army in 1962 and received an honorable discharge in 1964. In the 1970’s, Allan had political aspirations and ran for Commissioner of Welfare in Brooklyn, NY. He also attended Community College. He owned a Trucking Company and Pet Shop.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Pennington and Flege Gowins, his 10 siblings, his wives Theresa Morris Gowins (2024), Rosetta Tunison Gowins (2017), Peggy Neptune Gowins Harris (2012), Eunice Hale Gowins (1999), daughter Sherise Gowins, and sons Butch Gowins, Stephen (Robert) Gowins and Frank (Moonie) Gowins, Baby Boy Gowins.
Allan leaves behind to mourn his life: Momma Faye, Gwendolyn (Sulaiman), Linda (Felipe), Allan Jr. (Roshema), Harold, Constance, Emanuel/ Tyrone, Beverly/Renee (Norman), Joyce (Oscar), Raymond, Marvin Matthew, Jamar, Robin, Rashawn (Kamil), Shante (Carlos), Damien, Ronda/Nikki (Alan), Terri, Chiroya, and Alice. Additionally, he leaves behind (43) grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, his dogs Snooki and Foxy, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Allan's legacy is one of love, resilience, and family. He will be cherished and remembered by those who knew him. May he rest in peace.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 pm, Friday, March 21, 2025 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will start at 12:00 PM, Friday, March 21, 2025 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
