Bernice Hayes Obituary

Bernice Marie Hayes was born to the union of Julius Mckey and Baker Marie Carter in Greenville MS. On December 20, 1924. She was married to Fliex Hayes, who took on the role of being the stepfather of her children, Tonya, Janet, and Tony.

During her life she was employed as manager of Roberts Motel in Chicago Illinois where she retired in 1982 after years of faithful service. Mother Hayes as she was known by her church family was a member of the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Radcliff, KY where she was an active member of the Senior Group and the Mother’s Board from where she provided much love, guidance and support as she shared her knowledge of her years of living. She would tell you that it was because of the Great Goodness of God that she had made it thus far in life.

Bernice “Mother” Marie Hayes exemplified her position and role as being a mother. She was held in high esteem by all her children who said; “Our mom was fearless when it came to us. Our mom was the warm big hug when we needed it most. Our mom taught us to follow God in all things we do., to be kind, respectful, and honest to everyone we would meet.  Bernice Hayes was loyal to family, friends, and above all The Lord Our God. We love you Ma, Grandma, and Mil (Mother in-law) we know that you will continue to keep watch over us. Your loving children Tanya, Janet, and Tony. Thank you for being our mom.

On September 8, 2021, at Baptist Health Hospital Hardin, in Elizabethtown, KY she was gently and peacefully called home to be with the Lord.

Bernice Marie Hayes was proceeded in death by her parents, and her husband. She leaves to remember and cherish her life two daughters Tanya Arline of Radcliff, KY, Janet (Horace) Crowder of Burnsville, MN and Tony (Laura) of Douglasville, GA: 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, a loving host of others and her church family. Bernice left a very positive strong impression on us all, while we prayed and wanted her to get well, her Heavenly Father whom she loved had other plans, He loved her best and wanted her to come home with Him and take her much desired rest. She will be sorely missed by all.
