Bill Straney

Bill (James William) Straney, 62, of Flaherty, KY passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at his residence.

Born on July 28, 1958 in Flaherty, KY he was the son of Stanley “June” Straney and Rose “Bud” Straney. Bill was a lifelong member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. He graduated from Meade County High School in 1976. He married Joyce Kaelin on September 29, 1989. Bill & his wife Joyce enjoyed spending time on their farm. Over the years they have raised feeder pigs, cow-calve operation, and small row crop operation.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley “June” Straney and one brother, Joe Straney.

He is survived by wife, Joyce Kaelin Straney of Flaherty, KY; one daughter, Joy Ray Straney (Stuart Strom) of Webster Groves, MO; his mother, Rose T. Straney of Flaherty, KY; seven siblings, Kenny Straney (Annette) of Flaherty, KY, Ike Straney of Flaherty, KY, Suzie Greenwell (Gary) of Union Star, KY, Brenda Stuecker (Charlie) of Cecilia, KY, John Straney (Janice) of Brandenburg, KY, George Straney of Flaherty, KY, Pox Straney (Ed) of Vine Grove, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday and from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM, Saturday at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 23, 2021 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Flaherty, KY. Burial will follow in the St. Martin Cemetery.
