Bob Oakley Jr Obituary

Robert James "Bob" Oakley Jr., 55, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in Vine Grove, Kentucky, after bravely facing an illness. Born on Monday, November 3, 1969, in Tampa, Florida, Bob brought warmth, generosity, and humor to all those fortunate enough to know him.

Bob was the cherished son of the late Diana LaVerne Danforth and Robert J. Oakley Sr., and a loving brother to Michael Ervin, Anthony Ervin, and Joseph W. Oakley. Above all, he took immense pride in being a devoted father to Grace Ellen Oakley, Faith Elizabeth Scott (Nick) His two grandchildren Priscilla,Peter and Duane Edward Helton(Heather), who survive him and will continue to carry his love forward.

For 25 years, Bob dedicated his talents and work ethic to American Roofing, where he began as a roofer and, through determination and leadership, rose to a role in sales and estimating. His colleagues knew him as a big-hearted, dependable presence-always willing to lend a hand and encourage others.

Bob's spirit was most evident at home and among friends. He was a lifelong adventurer, passionate about camping, fishing, and any time spent outdoors-whether with his beloved family or, as he'd sometimes prefer, with only the quiet company of nature. A recent convert to cat-keeping, Bob found unexpected joy in his feline companions in his final two years-much to the surprise and amusement of those who knew him.

Cooking was Bob's love language. He relished trying new recipes and feeding his family and friends. Nothing pleased him more than watching everyone sample his latest culinary experiment. Bob was also a notorious prankster, delighting in sneaking up to scare his daughters-never tiring of their startled reactions, even when the joke wore thin on them.

A man of intelligence and wit, Bob inspired those around him with his problem-solving skills and generous acts, typically performed behind the scenes without fanfare. Whether helping neighbors or supporting friends, he made a remarkable impact through quiet kindness.

At Bob's request, there will be no formal funeral service. His family asks that friends remember him in the ways he lived-gathering for laughter, enjoying good food, and taking time to cherish one another.

In parting, we hold these words close to our hearts: 1 Corinthians 13:13-"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
