Carolyn (Bennett) Cortez

Carolyn Cortez, age 74, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 13, 2023, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Born on Thursday, December 2, 1948, in Glen Dean, Kentucky, Carolyn's life was characterized by her selfless love and gentle spirit.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles Thomas "C.T." Bennett, Joseph Elliott "J.E." Bennett, and Yonne Bennett. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Cortez Jr., and their loving children: sons Christopher Joseph Cortez and Jeremy Allan Cortez, and sisters Reba Gayle Morris, Arnola Denise Clark, Hazel Darlene Carlson, and Charlotte Jeannette Bennett. Carolyn's legacy also extends to her cherished grandchildren, Breauna Ashton Holt, Gavin Anthony Cortez, and Ava Grace Cortez, as well as her two great-grandchildren, and extended family & friends..

Carolyn's professional life was marked by an unwavering commitment and dedication. She retired from the Civil Service, Fort Knox, KY, where she had a successful career in computer programming. Carolyn was known for her gentle spirit and selfless nature. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always putting the needs of her family before her own.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
