CMSGT (Ret) Danny Lewis, 83, of Vine Grove, KY passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026 at the Indian Creek Healthcare Facility, Corydon, IN.

Chief Lewis served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for 28 years, completing two tours in Vietnam. Before retiring from military service he continued serving the public as a Chief of the fire department in Maryland. After retirement he served as Public Relations Director for Bill Currie Ford in Tampa Florida. For the past two years, Danny had lived with Kenny and Debra Mattingly who shared with him, comfort, companionship, and many treasured memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents Orie and Sophia Lewis. His wife, Willnettta Lee Stith Lewis; and a sister, Lorraine Newton.

His survivors include three siblings, Darrell Lewis (Candi) of Indiana, Lorna Maxson (Tom) and Wanda Tyler (Floyd) of Phoenix Arizona; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and 2 great nieces and extended family & friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Chism Family Funeral Home.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY
