Donald “Duck” L. Welch Sr., of Vine Grove, KY, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at his residence. Born on Wednesday, December 10, 1941, Duck was a man known for his skilled hands and unwavering work ethic. An electrician by trade, he spent 57 years with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and dedicated 28 years of service to American Standard. But beyond the titles, Duck was the kind of person who could fix just about anything—and often did, for anyone who needed a hand.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. Welch & Irene F. Welch; two brothers, Chuck and Bill; and his sister, Francis.

He leaves behind his children: son Donnie Welch (Cindy), daughters Jacki Scott (Kelly) and Jerri Woods (Steve); his former wife, Liz Welch; and his sister, Thelma Sorrells. Duck was a grandfather to six grandchildren and a great-grandfather to five. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private burial will be held at a later date.

Special gratitude also goes to Ms. Deb Pennell and Kaytlin for their kindness and dedication, and to neighbors Roger and Robin Payne, whose Sunday dinners and warm conversations meant so much to Duck.
