Eddy Skaggs, affectionately known by many titles—husband, father, Papaw, Boss Man, and Fast Eddy—passed away surrounded by family in his home at the age of 73 on Monday, July 21st 2025.
Born in Elizabethtown KY on Friday, April 18th, 1952 Eddy lived a life marked by devotion, drive, and a whole lot of horsepower. He was the proud father of three children Christy (Jeff) Brock, Wally (Melodie) Skaggs, and Debbie Duncan, a loving Papaw to four grandchildren Marrisa (Andrew) Shufelt, Coltyn, Ayden, and Sean (Lily) O’Malley and a joyful great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren Lawson, Gunnar, Rowan and Ryann who lit up his world and his fur baby Charlee Gail. He is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie Skaggs, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Dorothy and Roy Glenn and Howard Skaggs, siblings William, Verlin, Lowell and Catherine Skaggs.
Eddy was the founder and owner of Gold City Towing, a business he built from the ground up in the 1980s. Known as the Boss Man to his employees and peers, Eddy combined hard work with heart, earning the respect and loyalty of customers and friends throughout the region.
When he wasn’t behind the wheel or managing his business, Eddy could be found watching NASCAR every Sunday—never missing a race—and adding to his ever-growing collection of classic cars.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, big heart, and no-nonsense approach to life. Whether you knew him as Fast Eddy, Papaw in the backyard, or Boss Man at the shop, his presence was unforgettable, and his legacy will continue to ride on in the lives of those he loved.
