Elizabeth Aldeane Hamilton, affectionately known as Betty, was a beacon of warmth, kindness, and creativity. Born on April 10, 1926, in Punxsutawney, PA, she passed away peacefully in Elizabethtown, KY on August 19, 2023.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Sara (née Beam) Walk; two brothers, Harry Anthony McGinnis, Keith Amos Walk; a great granddaughter, Veronica Aguilar Walk; a stepson, Radford McGlone; and a son-in-law, Darren Ratliff.
She is survived by four children, William & Shelia (née Cruse) Walk Sr.; Carol (née Marino) & Dennis Darby; Anthony & Danielle (née Neitz) Hamilton; Nancy (née McGlone) Curtis Ratliff. Her legacy continues through her fifteen grandchildren, Monica (Shane) McCoy, Hershel (Michelle) Darby, Billie (Samuel) Lopez, Wilma (Casey) Wilson, Toni Darby, Charity Walk, Angel Walk Declet, William (Angie) Walk Jr., Christian Smolek (Kevin), Amy (&Ryan) Manning, Drissia McGlone, Sean Curtis, Devon Hamilton, Paul Hamilton, Colby Curtis; nine great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends who will remember her fondly.
Betty was best known for her work as a costume specialist for Walt Disney, where she combined her keen eye for detail and love of storytelling. Her role required a thorough working knowledge of cutting, pattern making, and garment construction, and she used these skills to bring characters to life. Her work not only delighted audiences but also inspired many young artists who were fortunate enough to learn from her.
Cremation was chosen by the family.
