Garland Lee Masden, of Vine Grove, KY, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on Friday, May 12, 2023, at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center, Louisville, Kentucky, just one week shy of his 84th birthday. Born on Friday, May 19, 1939, in Louisville, Mr. Masden lived a life characterized by generosity, gentleness, and courage.
Mr. Masden was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was retired from Civil Service, Fort Knox, KY and was a dairy farmer. His dedication to his work and the people he served was evident in the many lives he touched throughout his career. His contributions to his community and his country will not be forgotten.
In addition to his military service, Mr. Masden was known for his generous nature, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His kindness and compassion were evident in his relationships with family, friends, and even strangers, making a lasting impact on those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Garland was also a gentle and patient man, characteristics that endeared him to many. His quiet strength and calm demeanor provided a sense of comfort and stability to those around him. An avid listener, he always took the time to truly understand others and offer his support and encouragement.
Despite the challenges he faced throughout his life, Mr. Masden remained courageous and resilient. His unwavering determination and steadfast spirit served as an inspiration to all who knew him. He faced adversity with grace and dignity, never allowing it to define or limit him.
Garland Lee Masden is survived by his loving daughter, Paula Jackson (Jimmy), and four adoring grandchildren, Taryn Campbell, Taylor Campbell, Logan Jackson and Gracie Jackson. He was a devoted and proud grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
In addition to his daughter and grandchildren, Mr. Masden leaves behind four sisters, Gloria Duvall, Janice Masden, Sharon Heath, and Rita Carroll Bush, who will remember him as a loving and supportive brother. He is also survived by three nephews, Steven, Jimmy, and David; one niece, Debbie; and a host of extended family and friends who will carry on his legacy of kindness, generosity, and courage.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 17, 2023 and from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.
Funeral services for Mr. Masden will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY with Brother Ben Underhill officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
