Gene R. Wilson, 90, of Radcliff, KY, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Signature Healthcare of Elizabethtown.
Mr. Wilson was born on February 17, 1936 to Walter and Gertrude Wilson in Oneida, TN. He was the youngest of six boys. He graduated from Huntsville High School, Huntsville, TN and enlisted in the Army in 1956. He served 32 years, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. His service included 2 tours in the Republic of Vietnam and assignments at Fort Ord, Fort Polk, Randolph Air Force Base, Fort Riley, Turkey twice, and Fort Knox. Gene’s awards included a Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster (2nd award), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters (4th award), Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters (4th award), Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
Gene was father of three daughters; Debra currently residing in Turkey, Patricia currently residing in Colorado Springs, CO and Tabitha residing in Huntsville, AL. He should be remembered as a husband, father and soldier. May he rest in peace and serenity in the hands of Jesus.
Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM, Monday, August 10, 2026, at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, Kentucky.
Funeral services for Mr. Wilson will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, August 10, 2026, at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home.
Burial with full military honors will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
