Gerald Burnett Obituary

Gerald Wayne Burnett, 69, of Vine Grove, KY was reunited with his daughter Christina Renee Burnett on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Baptist Health Hardin, Elizabethtown, KY.  She preceded him in death on a cold winter night many years before.

Jerry retired from the United States Army in 1991 out of Fort Knox after serving honorably for 22 years.  Some time was spent in Vietnam where he received two Purple Hearts among other commendations.  After that he sold cars for an additional 20 years.  He finally retired from working at 60.

He was a quiet man who loved spending time on his property; dedicating his life to serving his country and loving his wife.  Everything he did, he did for his family.

During the summer months he could be seen helping his wife tend to their flower garden.  He mowed the grass, played with his loner cat and enjoyed his wife’s company.  A quiet and peaceful life was spent watching birds, fishing with his wife, watching westerns and eating snacks.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karin Burnett of Vine Grove, KY; one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Rachel Weissmann of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Abigail Louise Weissmann, Tyler Douglas Weissmann; his little sister, Tammy; and a host of extended family & friends.

He will be dearly missed!

Cremation was chosen by the family.
