Henry Morris, Jr, was born to parents Arlethia and Henry Morris, Sr. on May 18, 1953, in Brooklyn, NY. Henry, affectionately known as “Junior,” lived most of his life in New York where he married Agatha Gibbs in 1975 and from their union he fathered 2 children, Jemeek and Maleek. He also worked his entire career as a Court Aide for Manhattan Criminal Court until his retirement in November 2002.
Junior was also an Army veteran who courageously served our country as a Paratrooper during the Vietnam Era. He began his military service in 1971. While in service, he obtained the National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge and earned ‘expert’ certifications with the M16 and 45 Pistol. Upon fulfilling his duties as a soldier, he was honorably discharged in 1974.
While living the latter part of his life in Kentucky, Junior enjoyed spending most of his time with his family, close friends and enjoyed attending church. He was a standing member of the Heritage International Christian Church where he served on the board of Fellowship for Honorable Men and enjoyed gospel music.
In addition to being the only Son, Brother, Dad, and Poppa, he was known to most as “Uncle June”. As the patriarch of the Morris Family, he always served his loved ones and community in any way he could. Henry exuded an energetic and loving energy that could be felt by anyone who met him. He has touched many lives sharing his experiences and playful banter about his life.
On August 31, 2024, Henry Morris Jr., 71, ascended peacefully in Radcliff, Kentucky. He joins his sisters, Hilda, Theresa, and Mildred in Heaven. He is survived by his siblings Joan, Minnie, Adrienne, and Laverne. Junior is also survived by his two children, Jemeek and Maleek, his daughter in-law Michele, his three grandchildren, Joi, Skhy, and Zakar along with a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and many more.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.
Funeral services for Mr. Morris will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY with Pastor Jerome Sullivan officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
Following, a respass will be held at 435 S. Deepwood Drive, Radcliff, KY 40160.
