SSG (Ret) Jerry Wayne Boerner, 76, of Radcliff, KY passed away Monday, July 28, 2025 at the Carl M. Brashear Radcliff Veterans Center.

SSG (Ret) Boerner retired from the United States Army with 23 years service; having served one tour in Vietnam and also holding the prestigious duty of being on the Army's "The Old Guard". After his military service he was a member of the Gospel of the Kingdom Church, Elizabethtown, KY where he ministered in his church and truly loved spreading his love for the Lord. His pastor Bro Chris Urbano would greet him saying " Mighty Man of Valor". He also served as a chaplain in the Veterans Home. Jerry found joy and purpose as a small engine mechanic for True Value in Radcliff, KY. His expertise with lawn mowers was not just a profession but a passion, one that allowed him to solve problems and help others. He was also a civilian tank instructor for many years, he could put a tank engine together in his sleep. Although it isn't noted anywhere,  Jerry helped develop the trouble shooting module for The Abrams tank.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward A. & Carolyn Barham Boerner; and a brother, Ed Boerner.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Boerner of Bardstown, KY; two children, Brandy Dilley (Barrett) of Brenham, TX, Jerry Boerner Jr of Elizabethtown, KY; two grandchildren, Samantha Dilley, Ryan Dilley; one brother, Bob Boerner of Hot Springs, AR; two stepchildren, Matthew Bass (Debi), Rebecca Bass; two step grandchildren, Nick Bass, Katie Kelley; his dog, Lilah; and a host of extended family & friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Chism Family Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
