Jerry Ray Miller

Jerry Ray Miller, 84, was born on Wednesday, July 26, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, and passed away peacefully at his residence in Munfordville, Kentucky, on Friday, August 25, 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Rogers; two sisters, Shirley King and Barbara Haney; and three brothers, G.D. Rogers, Ronnie
Booker, and W.C. Rogers.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Dorene Miller; his loving children, daughter Deborah Hobson (Jeff) and sons Steven Miller (Cindy), Ricky Sims (Donna), David Sims, Walt Sims (Candace), and John Sims (Christine). He was also a doting grandfather to Brianna Hall, Tyler Hall (Chelsea), Dylan Smith, Luke Sims, Zach Sims (Hannah), Noah Sims, Eli Sims, and Ivy Sims. Jerry is also survived by his brother, Thomas Williams (Pamela), and a host of extended family and friends who cherished his presence in their lives.

Jerry was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, where he served his country with honor and dignity. After his service, Jerry had a fulfilling career at Chism Irrigation from where he retired. Jerry was a devoted member of the Leitchfield Crossing Baptist Church in Munfordville, Kentucky. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. His interests included keeping the birds well fed, spending time with family and enjoying the people around him.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 EST, Tuesday, August 29, 2023 and from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM EST, Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.

Funeral services for Mr. Miller will be held at 1:00 PM EST, Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY with Pastors Ben Benningfield and Jeremy Glaab officiating. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY with military honors.
