Joan Marie Vega

Joan Marie Vega, affectionately known as Joanie, 50, of Brandenburg, KY passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 29, 2023, in Louisville, surrounded by her loving family & significant other by her side. Born on September 21, 1972, in Elizabethtown, Joanie was a beacon of love, adventure, and courage throughout her 50 years of life.

Joanie was preceded in death by her uncle, Bo Jones; her stepmother, Nancy Allen; and her aunt, Elizabeth Jones.

She is survived by her four children, Devon Coronado, Marisa Parks, Raven Naser, and Lorenzo Vega; seven grandchildren, Phoenix, Easton, Scarlett, Liam, Lincoln, Maxton, and Bennett; her father, Michael Allen; her mother, Paula Dowell; one sister, Daryl Ann Schofield; two step-siblings, Kristie Bishop and Donnie Allen; her significant other, Michael Whelan; and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.

Joanie's courageous spirit was evident. She faced adversity with grace and determination, never allowing obstacles to hold her back. Her resilience and bravery were an inspiration to her children, who admired her strength and tenacity.

As we remember Joanie, we celebrate her life, her love, and her indomitable spirit. She leaves behind a beautiful family who will continue to honor her memory by living their lives with the same love, adventure, and courage that defined her own. Joanie's light will shine on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Joan Marie Vega's life will be held at a later date.
