John Rickey Obituary

John Scott Rickey, 64, of Radcliff, KY passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, April 8, 2019, surrounded by his family at Jewish Hospital, Louisville, KY.

Mr. Rickey was a veteran of the United States Army, and past chief of Public Affairs for Fort Knox, KY and for the US Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Valley Division, Vicksburg, MS.  His memberships include: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Noble Patron of Armor, Association of the United States Army, Fort Knox Schools Board of Education, Hardin County Democrats, and he was a Kentucky Colonel and honorary master tanker.

He was preceded in death by his parents George & Alicia Rickey; a brother, James Mirrielees; a sister, Terri Gregory.

Survivors include:
His loving wife of 44 years, Beverly Rickey of Radcliff, KY; one daughter, Shannon Alicia Rickey of Vine Grove, KY; one son, Michael Patrick Rickey of Radcliff, KY; one granddaughter, Karen Nicole Kazee of Fairview, TN; two brothers, William Mirrielees & his wife, Yasuko of Indian Trail, NC, George Rickey & his wife, Sarah of Iowa City, IA; a sister in law, Barbara Agan & her husband, Bill of Ankeny, IA; three nieces, Hiliary Stiff & her husband, Frank, Christina Mirrielees, Kari Agan Boscaljon; three nephews, Robert & his wife, LaCresha Mirrielees, Brian Agan & his wife, Meredith, Christopher Gregory; and his four four-legged furbabies, Georgia, Nina, Maddie, and Tilly.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.

A memorial service for Mr. Rickey will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY with Pastor Edward L. Palmer, Sr (The family request that everyone attending wear patriotic colors). officiating. Burial will follow at the North Hardin Memorial Gardens, Radcliff, KY with military honors. There will be a repass at Sign of the Dove Church, Radcliff, KY following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to Forever Homes for Paws in care of Toshie Singleton Murrell.
