John Franklin Singletary IV, 44, of Vine Grove, Kentucky, passed away on July 19, 2026.

He is a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. John was the firstborn to Rebecca and John Singletary in Frankfort, Kentucky, on September 14, 1981. From a young age, John proudly wore his heart on his sleeve, giving it along with the shirt off his back, to anyone in need. His caring heart and genuine spirit welcomed everyone, he was always one of the first to greet you with a big hug, a culinary treat or a good cup of coffee. John had a special gift for making people laugh, let loose and feel like they belonged. His laughter and loving spirit brightened the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have met him. John was devoted to creating change in the world, as evidenced by his studious career path in pursuit of a doctoral degree in environmental science and public health.  

Whether he was spending time with family and friends, talking about his love for The Legend of Zelda and Star Wars, John found joy in the things he loved and had a gift for creating memories that will be cherished forever. His presence is deeply missed, he is a light that will continue to shine in all our hearts. To quote his favorite worlds, The flow of time is always cruel… (Sheik) but Luminous beings we are, not this crude matter (Yoda).

John is preceded by his grandparents, John and Jeanie Singletary; Barbara and Lee Brock.

John is survived by his mother, Rebecca Singletary; his father, John Singletary III with Martina; his siblings, Faith, Melissa, Britni, Chris and Jered; his nieces and nephews, Zoey, Lawton, Damien and Jayden.

Funeral services for Mr. Singletary will be at 7:00 PM on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home in Vine Grove, KY.
