Karola Gehrmann Cash, 89, passed away on June 5, 2026, in High Point, North Carolina.


Karola (“Yomi” to family) was born on June 20, 1936, in Berlin, Germany. A devout lifelong Catholic, she lived her faith through her love of family, kindness to others, and unwavering devotion to God.


Karola was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found much joy in spending time with her family. She took pride in her career supporting the 2nd ROTC Region. In her free time she loved reading, bowling, western movies, and traveling to experience new places and cultures. Her warmth, strength, and loving spirit touched all who knew her.


She is survived by her daughter, Sheri Bednar, son-in-law, Ray Bednar; grandchildren, Kelli (Drew) Houseknecht, and Matthew (Sam) Bednar; great grandchildren, Lainey, Julia, and Cassidy Houseknecht; niece, Michaela.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Cash, parents Gertrude and Fritz Gehrmann; siblings Marianne and Hans; and nephew, Thomas.


The family takes comfort in knowing that Karola's faith sustained her throughout her life and that she now rests peacefully in the presence of the Lord.


The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to all who provided care, friendship, and support throughout Karola's life.


May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Ms. Cash will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 12, 2026, at St. Brigid Catholic Church, Vine Grove, KY with Reverend Chuck Walker officiating.


Burial will follow in the St. Brigid Cemetery.
