Lea Ann (Elam) Caplinger

Lea Ann (Elam) Caplinger, age 59, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023 at U of L hospital. She was born March 31, 1964 in West Liberty, Kentucky where she graduated high school. She held a Bachelors in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University and practiced nursing for 20+ years. Lea Ann lived a life of service to her patients, friends, family, and her Lord Jesus Christ. She was active in the Eastern Kentucky prison ministry and the jail ministry in Breck and Hardin County. She had a love for reading, crosswords, Law and Order, and caring for those around her. 

Lea Ann is proceeded in death by her parents Garry and Mary K Elam, her sister Margaret Beth McGlothen, her step son Mark Caplinger, and soul dog Izzy. She is survived by her children Jordan and Kristin Alexander of Brandenburg, Kelsey Alexander of Irvington, Amanda and Tray Powers of Battletown, Megan Caplinger of Vine Grove, grandchildren Presley and Brody Alexander, her niece Jenny and nephews Tyler and Kyle, and former spouse, Chris Caplinger. 

Lea Ann will be remembered full of love, warmth and strength. We believe she is at peace in her heavenly home. She would want us to remember our happy times together and “save our little tears” for another occasion. Lea Ann’s arrangements are listed below. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.

Funeral services for Ms. Caplinger will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY. Burial will follow at Cap Anderson Cemetery, Brandenburg, KY.
