Linda Finchum Roberts
Linda Finchum Roberts Obituary
Linda Roberts, 76, of Elizabethtown, KY, passed away at Baptist Health Hardin, Elizabethtown, Kentucky, on May 21, 2026.
Linda was born in Winchester, TN, and quickly moved to Frankfort, KY. She and Jim both attended Bellepoint Elementary and Second Street Schools, but Jim was on grade ahead of her. Jim and Linda met again, in Frankfort, when she was fifteen. Linda lived in Nashville, so Jim entered Trevecca Nazarene College, where they dated and were later engaged to be married. Linda and Jim married on October 28, 1967, and moved back to Frankfort to live. Because she was only seventeen, Farmer’s Bank hired her and her supervisor once said, “we are afraid of being charged with child labor laws”. She supported Jim as he attended and graduated from Kentucky State College.
In 1974, Jim entered the United States Air Force, so she moved with him to California, then to Warner Robins, Georgia, where they were part of the Strategic Air Command. They left the Air Force in 1980, moved the family so Jim could attend the seminary. Jim entered the Army, as a chaplain, in 1986, and was stationed at Fort Knox, KY. From there, his other assignments were Pirmasens, Germany, Fort Monmouth, NJ, Stuttgart and Hanau, Germany, then back to Fort Knox, where they retired in 2000. They settled in Elizabethtown, KY, where she was employed by First Citizens Bank and Fort Knox Federal Credit Union. She loved her customers and quickly made friends, some of which she stayed in contact with to this day.
Linda was a devoted mother of three beautiful children, eight grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. They were truly, blessed by God, to have had such a wonderful, Christian woman, as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jim and his family loved Linda greatly. If you knew Linda, you were blessed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Retha Finchum.
Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Jim Roberts; three children, Ed (Leigh Ann) Roberts, Carol (Mike) Roberts Horton, Ben (Megan) Roberts; eight grandchildren, Griffin (Robert) Tipton, Edye (Blane) Hasselmann, Madeline Horton, Abby Horton, Layla Horton, Mollie Roberts, Evie Roberts, Bailey Traister; five great-grandchildren, Artie, Robert, Whitleigh, Josie, Ellie; a sister, Judy Adams, and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, at Chism Family Funeral Home in Vine Grove, KY.
Burial will immediately follow at Kentucky Veteran Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY., with Reverend Neil Janes officiating.
