Liz (Harder) McCawley Obituary
Elizabeth “Liz” McCawley, 75, of Sonora, KY passed away Sunday, February, 1, 2026. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to her family and country.
A proud veteran, Liz served her country honorably for 17 years as a member of the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. She was committed to her country and her comrades, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew her. In addition to her military service, Liz spent many years as a caregiver, selflessly caring for both the elderly and young children in preschool settings. Her compassion and nurturing spirit were felt by all who were in her care.
Liz’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, and cherished great-grandmother. Time spent with her loved ones brought her immense happiness, and her presence was a constant source of warmth and strength. Her sly sense of humor often caught others off guard but always brought laughter to those around her. Even as illness tested her, Liz drew unbreakable strength from her deep love for her family. That love fueled her determination to remain here with them as long as possible, fighting with remarkable courage and grace until the very end.
Mrs. McCawley is survived by her loving husband, Allen D. McCawley; three children, Desiree Payne, Wesley McCawley (spouse, Tracy), Kimberly Auer (spouse, Marcus); four brothers, one sister, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
