Lydia Vondain Dowell Lewis, 72, of Louisville, KY passed away Friday, May 9, 2025 in Louisville, KY.

Mrs. Lewis was a beacon of warmth in her community, recognized for her generous spirit and her unwavering commitment to helping those in need. Lydia was born into a family that valued faith and community service, principles that would guide her throughout her life. Her involvement with the Evangel North Church in Clarksville, Indiana, was a testament to her dedication to her faith and her community. Lydia's interests reflected her kind-hearted nature. She had a heart of gold, and it was evident in the way she lived her life. Lydia never hesitated to extend a helping hand to anyone in need, whether it was a friend, a stranger, or an animal. Her love for animals was profound, and she was known to care for them with the same tenderness and love that she showed to the people around her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Dowell. 

Mrs. Lewis is survived by her husband, David Lewis; two children, David New (Melissa), Kristen Coleman (Nick); five grandchildren, Heather, Brooke, Tera, Karissa, David Jr (Mary Beth); seven great grandchildren, Emma, Ezra, Amden, Haydren, Tigan, Soren, Layla; her mother, Frances Dowell; one brother, Marc Dowell; and a host of extended family & friends.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Chism Family Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home.
