Malcolm Lee Gass Sr Obituary
Malcolm Lee Gass Sr., born on December 15, 1942, passed away suddenly on September 27, 2024. He was 81 years old and was a native of Dayton, TN. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Evelyn Gass, along with his parents and two brothers. Malcolm is survived by his three sons, Malcolm Jr. (Leslie), Michael (Jenna), and Matthew (Aimee); a sister, Gladys Marler (Aunt Boots); seven grandchildren, Alexandrea, Joseph, Anna, Gavin, Gage, Tyler, and Jordyn; and two great children, Chandler and Carsyn.
Malcolm retired from the Army in 1989 after serving over 29 years. He was a Master Sergeant at the time of his retirement. Following hisretirement, he worked at the AAFES Nametag Plant. Malcolm was a former Post Commander at the VFW Post 10281 in Vine Grove, KY where he also served as the Quarter Master for twelve years. He and his late wife were very involved with their VFW Post community and considered so many friends they made there as family. After retiring you could always find him at the “V” having a beer or 3 and conversing with all the regulars there and playing the pull tabs of course! He was a very lucky man in that regard! Malcolm was a simple man. He loved his Western shows and his recliner. He would tell you what he thought about things whether you liked it or not. He had a passion for keeping up with his veteran friends and making sure they were taken care of.
His visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Sunday, October 6, 2024 and from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM, Monday, October 7, 2024 at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.
Funeral services for Mr. Gass will be held at 12:30 PM, Monday, October 7, 2024 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY with Brother Ben Underhill officiating. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY with military honors.
