Marvin Sipes

Thomas Marvin Sipes, 65, of Flaherty, KY, passed away Friday, July 24, 2026, at his residence, with his family by his side.

Mr. Sipes was a member of Saint Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Flaherty, KY.  Marvin was a co-owner of the Flaherty Tractor Company and worked there for over 50 years as a mechanic. 

In his youth, Marvin loved racing motorcycles, traveling worldwide to compete, and at one time was top in the state.  As the years went on, his love for the sport transformed in new ways, as he taught both his boys to love the race.  Teaching them how to win and lose.  Standing beside them to fix every broken bike along the way.  Marvin had a knack for fixing things.  He was an amazing friend, and was always ready to lend a helping hand.  He wasn't a stranger to a cold beer or hard work.  Marv loved to dance, but only if you were playing good ole country music.  Above all else, Marvin was an amazing husband, father, and poppy.  We treasure the life he lived and the legacy that lives on through the people he loved.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Margaret Sipes; one sister, Linda Sipes; and one brother, Bradley Sipes.

He is survived by the love of his life for 44 years, Barbara Sipes; three sons, Ryan Sipes and his wife, Holly, Justin “Pooh” Sipes, Matt Rhodes; one brother, Kenny Sipes; one sister, Hop White; five grandchildren, Ava Sherill, Jack Sipes, Claire Sipes, Zane Rhodes, Cannon Rhodes, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and after 9:00 AM, Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Chism Family Funeral Home.  A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Sipes will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 30, 2026, at St. Martin of Tours Church, Flaherty, KY, with Fr. Ben Brown officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sipes Family Cemetery.
