PFC Charles W. Wells, was born on Sunday, April 15, 1923, and honorably gave his life in service to his country on Friday, June 30, 1944 at the young age of 21. Seventy-nine years after his untimely demise during World War II, his remains will be properly laid to rest.
His bravery and dedication were evident in his service to the country. He was a soldier who truly embodied the spirit of patriotism, putting his country before self and making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. PFC Wells was killed in action in the vicinity of Myitkyina, Burma during World War II. The discovery and positive identification of PFC Wells' remains, decades after his death, have brought a sense of closure to a long and difficult journey for those who sought answers about his fate. This discovery has also allowed this remarkable man to receive the respect and gratitude he so rightfully deserves.
PFC Charles W. Wells is survived by his two nieces, Diana L. Reinhardt and Charlene Jaglowicz.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.
A graveside service with military honors will be held for PFC Charles W. Wells at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, Kentucky (The funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10:30 AM).
