COL (Ret) Patrick William Burns, 70, of Guston, KY passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Baptist Health Hardin, Elizabethtown, KY.

COL Patrick William Burns was retired from the United States Army. He was an avid motorcycle rider who also had a love for the outdoors. As a skilled hunter, he respected nature and often ventured into the wilderness to reflect and find peace. While his prowess on the golf course was equally notable, his zest for life shone through in the simplest of pleasures, like using his backpack leaf blower.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Margaret Burns; and a granddaughter, Khloe Vann.

Mr. Burns is survived by his wife of 51 years, Christy Burns; two children, Ginny Vann (Tim), Jared Burns (Angela); two grandchildren, Klayton Vann (Catie Banks), Kenna Vann; three siblings, Coleen Northrop (Cliff), Mike Burns, Marsha Langan (Tom) and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends & his eight fur babies.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Chism Family Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Burns will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Brock officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Fort Knox Post Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mayo Clinic to support Amyloidosis research.
