Richard L. Bell

Ricky Bell, 59, of Rineyville, KY, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Ricky was a member of Blue Ball Baptist Church. He was born September 12, 1961 and grew up in the valley of Blue Ball Hill in Rineyville. As a child you could always find him in the shadow of his father, Shelby on the farm. He spent his summers at county fairs pulling their farm tractor Big O where he could be found helping with the weights or running alongside the track in the early 1970's.

Ricky graduated from West Hardin High School in 1980. He was voted Friendliest in his senior class and he never met a stranger. After graduation Ricky began driving a semi truck for his stepfathers company Bell Trucking. In recent years, he formed is own company Bell Boys Enterprise, that gave him the opportunity to visit all his fellow farmers, and haul their grain and fertilize. He was also a partner with his brother in law on B & H Farm in Rineyville. In 1985, Ricky married Sonya Houk, the love of his life. Together they raised 2 sons, Jacob and Andrew. Ricky loved Oliver tractors, Mack & Peterbuilt trucks and spending time telling tales with his friends & neighbors. His greatest joy came from time spent with his granddaughter Aubrey.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Shelby and Lois Bell.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Sonya; two sons, Jacob Bell (Madeline Birosh), Andrew Bell; one sister, Connie Hayse (Paul); a granddaughter, Aubrey Bell; a stepfather, David Bell, three stepsisters, Connie Dickerson (Ted), Carolyn Winchester (Randy), Lori Bell; a special nephew, Jonathan Houk; a sister in law, Joanie Turner (Scott); a brother in law, William Houk (Linda); his mother in law, Willis Houk Hensley; and a host of nephews, nieces, family & friends.

Ricky's visitation will be 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday and 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Wednesday at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 20, at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY with Pastor Tommy House officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Elizabethtown, KY.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research or St. Judes Children's Hospital.
