Robert Nels Enyart Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of LTC (Retired) Robert "Bob" N. Enyart, U.S. Army, 81, who passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at his Radcliff home.

Robert was born to the late Milton J. and Doris H. Enyart on July 7, 1944 in Cincinnati, OH, and married his high school sweetheart, Sheila Kelly on February 3, 1968 in Libertyville, IL.

Bob was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965 and proudly served 21 faithful years earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel until retiring in 1986.  Bob's military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.  For Heroism in Action in Vietnam, on October 25, 1968, Bob was awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal with "V" Device after he was shot while flying his OH-6 and crashed while in direct contact with the enemy.  Bob would later serve in locations including Bad Hersfeld, West Germany, Camp Casey, South Korea, and received his Bachelors degree from Embry-Riddle  Aeronautical University.

Following his Army career, Bob continued serving as a civilian at the Army Material Command in Washington, D.C.. Returning to Radcliff in 1991, he worked for the Army Engineer Board.  In 1998, Bob helped Sheila run for the Mayorship of Radcliff and won, assisting her in three consecutive terms.

Bob strived for excellence in everything he did, he never compromised and expected others to follow his example.  His devotion to family and community was never in question.  He coached his sons' sports teams, started a Boy Scouts of America Troop, successfully ran his wife's Mayoral Campaign, and become an original member of the Radcliff Forestry and Conservation Board; supporting the development of Saunders Springs Nature Preserve, where he served for 10 years.  Additionally, Bob took time for himself, relaxing with Sheila and devoting time to his personal passion... model railroading.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and youngest son Jonathan R. Enyart.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sheila, eldest son Erik (Belinda), his only and favorite granddaughter Paige, brother James (Eilene), and sister Glenna.

He chose cremation and requested no service.  His ashes will be spread at a later date.
