Sandy (Sahara) Simpkins

Sandy Sahara Simpkins, 88, of Rineyville, was welcomed home with open arms by Jesus on Saturday, May 20, 2023. Born on Saturday, October 14, 1934, in Hiroshima, Japan, then living more than sixty years in Rineyville, KY, she lived a remarkable life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends.

Sandy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Ryan Simpkins. Mrs. Simpkins is survived by her husband, Emmett of Rineyville; one son, Steve (Wendy) of Rineyville; eight grandchildren, Krysten, Cassandra, Nicole, Samantha, Elaina, Christopher, Taylor, and Matthew; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Throughout her life, Sandy remained deeply connected to her Japanese heritage. She was proud of her roots and worked tirelessly to preserve and share her culture with her loved ones. She cherished the precious moments she spent with her husband, son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and happiness to her life. Sandy's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, laughter, and memories that will be treasured by all who knew her. Her selfless nature, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family and friends will live on in the hearts and minds of those she leaves behind, and her memory will be a source of comfort and inspiration for generations to come.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, on the morning of Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
