Guy Steven "Steve" Burnett

Passed away peacefully at home Saturday, April 20, 2024 surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was 76 years old. Born on March 23, 1948 in Vine Grove Ky.

Preceded in death by: His parents, Guy Sylvester Burnett and Mary Jane Vessels Burnett, sister Alexis Wathen, brother in laws Richard Fackler and Gordon Jewitt.

Survived by his wife of 46 years Gail Burnett, daughter Amanda Burnett Shaw (John) of Vine Grove, KY, grandchildren Miranda Jane Russell and Mason Bailey Burnett of Vine Grove, KY. Sisters: Rosemary Fackler, Louisville, KY, Diana Jewitt, Brandenburg, KY, Becky Eckert (Roy) of Tullahoma, TN, Brothers: Ronnie Burnett (Linda) of Vine Grove, KY, David Burnett (Diane) of Brandenburg, KY, and Mark Burnett (Lisa) of Louisville, KY. Brother in Law Anthony Wathen of Vine Grove, KY. Had a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and very good friends.

Vietnam Veteran, Retired Civil Service, Fort Knox, 30 years. Member of the Knights of Columbus, Legacy member of the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. 

He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to plant and tend to a garden big enough to feed everyone in the county. Loved to mow the yard and sit on the front porch and just listen and watch nature. He was a U of L fan and loved his cardinals. He loved his family and friends very much.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 24, 2024 and from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Burnett at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Flaherty, KY. Burial with military honors will follow in the St. Martin Cemetery.
