Tyquan Maurice Crawley Obituary
Tyquan “Ty” Crawley—a dedicated veteran, gifted athlete, and aspiring healer—passed away on January 12, 2026, at the age of 41. Ty lived a life defined by leadership, a brilliant mechanical mind, and a profound commitment to serving others.
A Natural Leader and "MacGyver"
From a young age, Ty was a powerhouse both in the classroom and on the field. An all-around athlete, he excelled in basketball, baseball, and soccer, but truly found his stride as a quarterback in middle and high school. As a QB, Ty possessed a natural ability to lead, carrying the game with confidence and competitive spirit that inspired his teammates and coaches alike. Beyond the field, Ty was affectionately nicknamed “MacGyver.” From his earliest years, he was fascinated by how things worked. He possessed a rare, innate ability to "jimmy-rig" or fix anything he put his mind to. This passion for mechanics was always paired with his heart for people; he looked at the world through the lens of how things worked so that he could better understand how to help those around him.
Service and Sacrifice
Driven by his desire to protect and care for others, Ty joined the National Guard as a Combat Medic. He deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving with distinction. While stationed at Camp Bucca, Ty was entrusted with the profound responsibility of providing healthcare for detainees. In this high-pressure environment, he served with a level of compassion and professionalism that defined his character, proving that his heart was as big as his courage.
A Dream of Healing
Upon returning home, Ty’s experiences overseas fueled a new mission. He aspired to become a Physician Assistant (PA), enrolling in college to turn that dream into a reality. He approached his studies with the same discipline he showed in the military and the same focus he once held on to the football field.
Legacy of Love
Ty’s greatest pride was his family. He will be remembered not just for his achievements, but for his resilience, his brilliance, and his unwavering desire to care for those around him. He was a protector, a scholar, and a beloved father, son, and friend whose legacy of service will never be forgotten.
Ty is survived by his wife Tearra Crawley; his three children, Jeshua Marquez-Crawley, Joessie Marquez-Ruiz, Tyliana Crawley; his devoted parents, Octavia Crawley, SFC (RET) Vance Crawley & his wife, Masoumeh; his grandmothers, Virginia Crawley, Etta Clark; his siblings, Tonique Parks, Tamya Crawley; nephews, John Parks, Bronx Parks, a niece, Amyla Crawley; his stepsiblings, Marquis Kennedy, Darin Blake; bonus family, Jennifer Gregory, AJ, Mauri, Malichi; and a host of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, George Crawley; his great-grandmother, Mary Allen; his uncle, Raymond Allen; and his aunts, Tracy and Leandra Crawley.
