Vanessa Gay Brown Lawson, 60, of Vine Grove, KY passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Baptist Health Hardin, Elizabethtown, KY.

Ms. Lawson was a member of the Vine Grove Christian Church and a 1983 graduate of North Hardin High School, Radcliff, KY. Her hands were rarely still, as they were often busy with her beloved hobbies of quilting, sewing, arts and crafts. Her love for fishing was more than a hobby; it provided her with peace and contentment. She also loved collecting anything that had to do with pigs. Purple, the color of royalty and creativity, was Vanessa's favorite. It could be found throughout her life, from the clothes she wore to the decorations in her home. More than anything Vanessa enjoyed being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Alberta Marie “Bert” Brown; one brother, Paul Brown; two nieces, Sandra Kerns, Ansley Grace Perry; a nephew, Bradley Roberts; and her grandparents.

Mrs. Lawson is survived by three children, Kenny McCoy Jr, Travis McCoy, Brice Lawson; several grandchildren; her father, Maynard Brown (Brenda); six siblings, Dana Kerns (JoJo), Rebecca Kromoff, Troy Brown (Marzena), Amanda “Mandy” Graham, Carl Everhart, Cody Brown (Anna); and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, family & friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Chism Family Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Ms. Lawson will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home with Pastor Ben Underhill officiating. Burial will follow at the North Hardin Memorial Gardens, Radcliff, KY.
