Wayne A. Brown Obituary
Wayne A. Brown, age 64, of Vine Grove passed away at the Robley Rex VA Hospital on Tuesday, August 20. Wayne was born March 31, 1960, in Madison, WI, the son of Donald and Rose (Anthon) Brown.
Wayne has been a resident of Vine Grove since 2010, when he moved here to work at Fort Knox as an Instructional Systems Specialist for the 83rd ARRTC in the Directorate of Training Development.
Wayne graduated from Oregon High School in Oregon, WI in 1980. He entered the Air Force in December, 1981. He served 21 years and retired in February, 2003. His most recent service was with the 621st Air Mobility Operations Group, McGuire AFB, NJ, where he was deployed to the Middle East after 9/11 eventually serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
While on active duty, Wayne earned his bachelor’s degree in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University, graduating in August, 2003. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for ABC Building Supply for 1 ½ years in upstate New York. From there he received a job offer from the Federal Government in 2005 to work at Fort McCoy, WI, for the Army Reserve and eventually moved with the unit to Fort Knox in 2010, to continue his career in training development.
Wayne met his wife of 34 years, Stephanie (Riebe), in July of 1989 in Madison, WI, when they were set up on a blind by Wayne’s sister Sherri. Six months later they were married in Tampa, FL on February 2, 1990 and on their way to Torrejon AFB, Spain, Wayne’s next duty station.
Wayne was an avid football fan. He loved his team the Green Bay Packers so much, he bought a share of their stock in 1995. He couldn’t wait for football season to start, so he could play fantasy football.
Wayne enjoyed working out at the gym, sometimes twice a day. Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed participating in many sports: golf, softball, tennis, racquetball and biking. His recent favorite was pickle ball. He looked forward to summers in WI, where he could go boating, tubing and play cards and water volleyball with his family. Nothing made him happier, when he came home from work, than relaxing in his backyard pool while listening to podcasts. Wayne also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Stephanie, seeing new places and learning new things wherever they went.
Wayne loved his church, Lifeline Assembly of God, and his church family. He volunteered for building projects, lawn mowing and had fun participating on the church dartball team.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Stephanie; father, Donald Brown; sister, Sherri Peterson and brother, Donnie Brown. He was preceded in death by his mother Rose and his brother-in-law Jeffrey Peterson.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Lifeline Assembly of God, 1116 S. Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY.
