Willie Edward Squire, the first born of five children, of the late Willie S. Squire and Nellie Mae Squire. Willie Edward Squire was born in Greenville County, Virginia on November 24, 1949. On June 6, 2026, he made a peaceful transition from this life at his home in Radcliff, Kentucky doing what he loved, gardening. He was baptized at an early age at Diamond Grove Baptist Church, Skippers, Virginia. After relocating to Hardin County, Kentucky, he rededicated his life and became a member of Heritage International Christian Church in Radcliff, Kentucky. He was a faithful member until his passing. He received his childhood education in Greenville County, Virginia, public school system. After relocating to Washington, DC, as a teenager, Willie graduated from Dunbar Senior High School, Washington, DC. in 1969.

He served in the United States Army from June 23, 1969 to June 18, 1971. His service included a  tour of duty with Battery B-3D Missile Site 71st  Army-Germany. Willie was proud of his military service, he was employed as a Special Police Officer for the DC Protective Services Division for District of Columbia Government. He progressed through the ranks from Patrolman to Captain, until his retirement, May 2010, with forty-one years of service.

He was the lead singer in a band, enjoyed all types of music, self-taught guitar player, and loved writing and singing love songs for his beautiful wife. He loved gardening and planting flower beds and a super handyman for outdoor projects for other people.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Edward and Abell Hill; two sons, Reggie Squire and Gerald Curry Jr.; and a brother, Arthur Squire.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife, Barbara; daughter, Nicole Squire; one son, Daima Curry (Donja), two brothers, Ralph Squire (Shelia), George Squire; one sister, Doris Tucker; sister-in-law,  PeggyAnn Brown; three grandsons, Reggie Gentles, Gerald Curry (Ariana). Bruce Mills; four granddaughters, Tika Hardy (Andre), Kemeka Cosey, Desireah Mills,  Keyona Curry; seven great-grandchildren, J’Syah Cosey, Journee Hardy, Zamir Wingate, Zurie Cosey, Jahki Dice, Jaire Dice, Kaleena Curry; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces/nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, Kentucky and continue from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Heritage International Christian Church, Radcliff, Kentucky.  

Funeral services for Mr. Squire will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, Kentucky.
