Pauline "Polly" Cardin

Pauline "Polly" Cardin, 88, passed away peacefully Friday, December 15, 2017 in Elizabethtown KY.

Born June 20, 1929 to Scott Goodman and Gertie Hays Goodman, she and her husband John A. Cardin, lived and worked together in the family business in Sonora much of her life.

She loved her family and took great joy and pride in watching her children and grandchildren go on to raise families and run businesses of their own.  Some of the best memories of her were made in the kitchen, where she was an excellent cook.  She loved to share her cooking skills and her recipes were later featured in "Country Ham: A Southern Tradition of Hogs, Smoke and Salt" by author Steve Coomes. She was a proud lifelong member of the American Legion Post 113 and enjoyed many gatherings there.  

She is survived by her children: Sandy Powell (Butch), Donna Silverman (Kerry) Paula Cardin Wheeler (Tim), Grandchildren: Sondra Powell (Stephen Thomas Jr) Jason Powell (Rachelle) Sara Smith (Phillip) and Laura Thompson (Michael) Great Grandchildren: Mercades, Chelsea and Tanner Powell, Austin and Cameron Morgan, and Braden Smith, Nieces: Patricia Riggs (Bill), Rosie Dailey (Arvil) Nephew: Danny Butler (Tammy), Nephew: Robert Goodman, Nephew: Timothy Goodman (Crystal), Nephew: Bill Goodman, Sister In Law: Louis Chapman (Bill) as well as several beloved four legged granddogs and cats.

She is preceded in death by her husband John A. Cardin, father and mother, Scott and Gertie Goodman, brother Bob, Bill and Leland Goodman and step brother Hoover Edlin.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday and from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday at Coffey & Chism Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cardin will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the chapel of Coffey & Chism Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY. Graveside services will be private.
